Meet the Founder of The Total Balance Method
Dawn Cooper has partnered her nearly thirty years
in teaching and training with the techniques and tools of complimentary
therapies into a rewarding program for both horse and rider. Nearly
twenty years on the professional show circuit and over a hundred
and fifty championships in various disciplines, have given her a
unique perspective into the working horse. With her extensive background
in saddleseat, driving, western pleasure, dressage, eventing, stadium
jumping and gaited horses, few horses present issues that are not
familiar to her. In addition to the training and teaching background,
Dawn worked several years as a veterinarian assistant absorbing
the intricate study of horses with lameness issues. Though the veterinary
hospital had extensive services including surgical services, Dawn
concentrated her interest in the use of acupuncture, chiropractic
and the podiatry elements of care. Medical conditions must be addressed
by a licensed veterinarian, though Dawn found that she could be
effective in other areas and was drawn to the continuing education
of surrounding complimentary therapies as their contribution to
gait correction, soundness, training attitude and general elevation
of performance was proved valuable. After combining her skills with
other professionals as a team, (veterinarians, farriers, acupuncturists
and energy workers,) she has developed a well- rounded approach
to the horse's overall health and welfare. Her work has served horses
throughout the country in both private sessions and through clinics.
Her goal is to provide affordable comprehensive understanding between
owners and their horses as to how they move, when there is pain
in the training program and how to relieve those issues to enhance
their partnership with their horse.
She is developing a network of others who wish to use their talents
with horses and invites them to join the Total Balance team of instructors.
Her program is set up with a support system for the team members
as well as assurances to the client that their work will be consistent
to the standards of The Total Balance Method.
